Ricardo Divila is arguably the most experienced Race Engineer in the world. Over the last 59 years he has competed in a total of 2,600 races, working for 46 different teams. He has engineered in 286 F1 Grand Prix’s, 25 IndyCar races, 31 Le Mans 24 hours and even 5 Dakar rallies to name a few! He has worked with 171 drivers in total, including the likes of Keke Rosberg, Mario Andretti and Sebastien Loeb. There is no other Race Engineer who can offer as much insight and experience as Ricardo Divila, and we are excited to announce that he will be tutoring at the 2019 MIA Spring School of Race Engineering for the very first time!
‘I have mentored a lot of Race Engineers throughout my career in motorsport and there is a clear gap between the skills and knowledge that is taught at University and what is required at a racetrack during a race weekend,’ says Divila. ‘This is why I have such a passion for educating enthusiastic students who want to be the next Race Engineers and enjoy passing on my knowledge and experience. Although, working in motorsport, especially trackside is a bizarre and tough business so I’ll also give them some hints and tips on how to survive at the racetrack!’
Ricardo will be teaching the students everything they need to know about Tyres and Strategy – the two topics that every Race Engineer needs to know inside out. He will also be hosting a Q&A session where students will get the unique opportunity to find out what it is reallylike to be such a successful and experienced Race Engineer.
